The QV Marlins swim team relies heavily on the support of our parent volunteers. Your involvement is essential to the success of our meets and the overall experience for our swimmers.
A new volunteer requirement/commitment form will be available during registration. Our team is based on parents volunteering to ensure our athletes have the best possible environment to let them focus on swimming and having fun.
During registration, you will be required to commit to having at least 1 parent, family member, or friend, per swimmer, ready to volunteer at every meet/event in which your swimmer(s) is participating (up to 2 per family of multiple swimmers).

POSITIONS THAT REQUIRE CERTIFICATION THROUGH MCSL:
Stroke and Turn Judge: The Stroke and Turn (S&T) Officials watch 3 lanes each and ensure the strokes are done legally. The clinics cover the legality/basics of each stroke. We need at least 3 QV S&T Judges.
Starter: The starter is responsible for giving the command to start the race, operating the starting equipment, and assuring (with the referee) that no one false starts.
Referee: Current certification as an S&T judge is also required. The referee is responsible for running the meet. The referee must approve all swimmer disqualifications and keep the meet running in a timely fashion. The referee handles all disputes, rules, questions, etc.; therefore, the referee must be familiar with all applicable USS and MCSL rules.
Chief Judge: Certification as a Referee or Stroke and Turn Official is required. Chief Judge works at the Relay Carnival with the referee to approve disqualifications at the far end of the pool.TRAINING IS FREE - VIRTUAL OR IN-PERSON!
REGISTER IN APRIL - CLASSES RUN MAY – JUNE.
POSITIONS THAT DO NOT REQUIRE CERTIFICATION BUT ARE ESSENTIAL TO MEET OPERATIONS:
CONCESSIONS: are essential for our team budget, a big part of which contributes to our coaches' salaries and the purchase of necessary equipment for competitions and the team pool. YES, IF YOU ARE WORKING CONCESSIONS, YOU CAN STEP AWAY TO WATCH YOUR CHILD SWIM.
Clerk of Course: For both the A and B meets, the Clerk of Course is responsible for checking in swimmers prior to their events. Ensured swimmers know which lanes they are swimming in and how to get to the starting area.
Head Timer: The Head Timer is responsible for assuring that all timers have started their watches at the appropriate time and recorded their times accurately. The Head Timer also starts with 2 extra watches in case they are needed by other timers. Prior experience as a timer is required. (Training is available).
Assistant Head Timer: The Assistant Head Timer works with the Head Timer and is responsible for assuring that timers have started their watches at the appropriate time and recorded their times accurately, collecting all timesheets after the race and giving them to the runners, and supporting the timers as needed. Prior experience as a timer is required. (Training is available).
Runner: Responsible for taking the time sheets from the Timer and delivering them to the Automation person after each event. (Same responsibility for A and B meets).
Timer: The primary responsibility of the 3 timers per lane is to start the watch at the start of the race and stop it when the swimmer touches the wall. One of the timers records all three times after each heat and circles the middle time, which becomes the official time for that lane. No experience is required.
Ribbon Writers: Responsible for attaching labels to ribbons during the meet and organizing their distribution to swimmers in specially designated ribbon folders.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Su participación es esencial para eléxito de nuestros encuentros y la experiencia general de nuestros nadadores.Un nuevo formulario de requisito/compromiso de voluntario estará disponible durante la inscripción. PUESTOS QUE REQUIEREN CERTIFICACIÓN A TRAVÉS DEL MCSL:
Juez de brazada y giros: Los oficiales de brazadas y giros vigilan 3 carriles cada uno y se aseguran de que las brazadas se realicen legalmente. Las clínicas cubren la legalidad/conceptos básicos de cada ictus.
Arrancador: El arrancador es responsable de dar la orden de iniciar la carrera, operarel equipo de salida y asegurar (con elárbitro) que nadie haga salidasen falso.
Árbitro: También se requiere certificación vigente como juez de ciencia y tecnología. El árbitro es responsable de dirigir el encuentro. El árbitro debea probar todas las descalificaciones de nadadores y mantener la competencia funcionando de manera oportuna. El árbitro maneja todas las disputas, cuestiones de reglas, etc.; por lo tanto, elárbitro debe estar familiarizado con todas las reglas aplicables de USS y MCSL.
Juez Principal: Se requiere certificación como Árbitro u Oficial de Golpes y Giros. PUESTOS QUE NO REQUIEREN CERTIFICACIÓN PERO SON ESENCIALES PARA CUMPLIR CON LAS OPERACIONES:
Concesionesde: QV es esencial para el presupuesto de nuestro equipo, una gran parte del cual contribuye a los salarios de nuestros entrenadores y a la compra del equipamiento necesario para las competiciones. SÍ, SI ESTÁ TRABAJANDO EN UNA CONCESIÓN, PUEDE ALEJARSE PARA VER A SU HIJO/A NADAR.
Director de carrera: El director de carrera es responsable de registrar a los nadadores antes de sus eventos. Asegura que los nadadores sepanen qué carriles están nadando y cómo llegar al área de salida.
Temporizador principal: El cronómetro principal es responsable de garantizar que todos los cronómetros hay aniniciado sus relojes en elmomento adecuado y hayan registrado sus tiempos con precisión. El Head Timer también inicia 2 relojes adicionales en caso de que otros temporizadores los necesiten.
Temporizador principal asistente: El cronómetro principal asistente trabaja con elcronómetro principal y es responsable de garantizar que los cronómetros hayan iniciado sus relojes en el momentoade cuado y hayan registrado sus tiempos con precisión, recopilando todas las hojas de tiempos después de la carrera y entregán doselas a los corredores, y brindando apoyo a los cronómetros según sea necesario.
Temporizador: La responsabilidad principal de los 3 cronometra dores por calle es iniciarel cronómetro al inicio de la carrera y detenerlo cuando el nadador toca la pared. Uno de los cronómetros registralos tres tiempos después de cada serie y marca con un círculo el tiempo intermedio, que se convierteen el tiempo oficial para ese carril.
Corredor:Responsable de tomar las hojas de tiempos del Timer y entregarlas a la persona de Automatizaciónd espués de cada evento. (Secumple la mismar esponsabilidad para A y B).
Escritores de cintas: responsables de colocar etiquetasen las cintas durante la competencia y organizar su distribución a los nadadores en carpetas de cintas especialmente designadas.
